About The Lifeboat Station Project

Hello! I'm Jack Lowe / @jacklowe.

This is a place to follow my 10 year mission to document all 238 #RNLI lifeboat stations in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

I use photography, audio and words to tell the story but there's a twist: I travel in my mobile darkroom — a decommissioned ambulance called 'Neena' — and use a process known as #WetPlate to make my photographs on 12x10 inch glass, just as the Victorians used to in the 1850s.
